Omdat een arrangement bij de Disney hotels enkel vanaf 1 nacht 2 dagen te boeken is en wij maar één dag in het park konden doorbrengen besloten wij om een losse overnachting bij het Dream Castle hotel te boeken en dan losse entreetickets voor één dag te halen.
A few weeks ago I went to Disneyland Resort Paris with my little sister, we are two hardcore Disney fans and we try to go to the mothership as often as we can. This trip was all about spending one day in the parks and staying in a hotel for one night. It's a 4 hour drive from here and we really wanted to go during Halloween season so off we went.
Most Disney hotel packages offer one a night plus 2 days in the parks but since we could only visit the park one day that was too expensive. We booked one night at the Dream Castle hotel and got Disneyland park tickets at the entrance of the park (the hotel also offers park tickets)

Het Dream Castle hotel is vanaf Juni 2006 in handen van Vienna International hotelmanagement, daarvoor was het hotel onderdeel van Mövenpick (zo stond het ook nog in het navigatiesysteem viel mij op). Het Dream Castle hotel bevat 397 hotelkamers die voorzien zijn van anti-allergisch beddengoed, individuele airconditioning, flatscreen met internationale zenders, WIFI en nog veel meer gemakken.
Het thema van het hotel is de 3 Musketeers. Een combinatie van Middeleeuwse elementen en de renaissance stijl wisselen elkaar af zonder dat het overdreven oogt, het thema is is heel subtiel in het decor van het hotel verwerkt. Het Sanssouci en Musketeers restaurant hebben beide een eigen uitstraling en de Excalibur bar, waar je zowel kan lunchen als borrelen, is open tot middernacht. Helaas heb ik de bar niet bezocht, toen we na sluitingstijd van het Disneyland park naar het hotel gingen waren we eigenlijk een beetje moe...

Parkeren kan voor het hotel op één van de 300 parkeerplaatsen en er is een shuttle die je naar de Disney parken brengt. Er zijn 9 kamertypen, waaronder de Rapunzel en Baron von Münchhausen suite. Maar er is ook een kamertype voor gezinnen met één tweepersoons bed en een stapelbed voor de kindjes. Voor de grotere gezinnen is er een bijzonder comfortable Royal suite die plaats bied aan 2 volwassenen en 5 kinderen. Deze suite heeft een aparte ouderslaapkamer, een woon en eetkamer en twee slaapkamers voor de kinderen. Eigenlijk is een slaapkamer voor de nanny het enige wat hieraan ontbreekt...
In het hotel is een speelruimte voor kinderen, een ruimte voor videogames, een zwembad, een buitenspeeltuin, conferentiezalen en een heuse SPA waar je terecht kan voor je dagelijkse fitnessroutine of een uitgebreide massage of gezichtsbehandeling. Er zijn eigenlijk zoveel faciliteiten dat het nog lastig is om alles tijdens je verblijf te bezoeken.

Om 8 uur s'morgens zijn wij vertrokken en arriveerden rond half 1 in het hotel. Inchecken kon pas vanaf 3 uur dus gingen we eerst met de shuttlebus naar het park wat we hadden ook halfpension geboekt in het hotel, dus we moesten toch rond dinnertime terug. De check-in was vlot en we werden enorm vriendelijk geholpen door de receptioniste. Omdat we vroeger waren was er ook geen rij. Toen we rond 6 terugkwamen voor de sleutels werden we ook direct geholpen.
At 8 in the morning we left home to arrive at the hotel at 12.30. The service at the front desk was very quick and friendly. Rooms are usually ready at 15.00 so we had to wait for the room. We also booked our meal at the hotel so we went out to explore the parks first so we could go straight to our room when we got back at the hotel for dinner. Because we arrived at the hotel ealy there was no line at the reception, same thing when we got back to pick up the keys around 18.00.

Ik had voor mij en mijn zusje de Double Queen kamer geboekt. Als kleine meisjes was het al niet raadzaam om ons in één bed te stoppen (twee enorme draaikonten dat gaat nooit goed...) dus had ik speciaal voor deze mooie kamer met twee queensize bedden gekozen.
De Double Queen kamer is voorzien van twee bedden, badkamer met toilet, hele ruime wastafel en badkuip waarin je ook kan douchen. Daarnaast kan je op de kamer koffie of thee zetten, er is een ruime garderobekast met kluis en er is een flatscreen aanwezig.

De bedden zijn heerlijk en de badkamer is ruim en licht. Sommige hotelbadkamers ogen wel eens donker en ongezellig, maar deze badkamer was heel sfeervol. Vooral fijn was de ruimte rondom de wastafel, je begrijpt dat die ruimte wel nodig was met twee diva's in één hotelkamer...Over toiletartikelen gesproken, in de badkamer hangen dispensers met shampoo en zeep van L'Occitane, heel eco en heel gebruiksvriendelijk.
The beds are very very comfy and the bathroom is spacious and light. I especially liked the toiletries area because two diva's in one room...that's a lot of cosmetics....Speaking of which, there are soap and shampoo dispensers holding L'Occitane products, very eco and very user friendly, a big plus!

Na ons even te hebben opgefrist gingen we naar de eetzaal voor het diner. Het halfpension diner was in buffetvorm, handig is dat je keuze hebt uit meerdere gerechten, nadeel is dat ik met name warme buffetgerechten kwalitatief toch altijd iets minder goed vind uitpakken dan koude buffetgerechten en desserts maar ik ben nogal verwend qua eten, ik geef het eerlijk toe.
After freshing up we went to the restaurant for dinner. The half board dinner was a buffet offering various dishes. You can choose from many types of dishes but the downside is that warm buffet dishes tend to be a little less than the restaurant quality that I am used to (I am spoiled I admit it) but the cold dishes and the desserts totally compensate that.

De Desserts waren wel heel fijn met uitzondering van de wat waterige crème brûlee. Ook vond ik het drinken flink aan de prijs, voor een flesje water en een glas ijsthee zonder prik moest ik nog net geen 10 euro afrekenen (volgens mij 9,85 ofzo) en dat vond ik heel erg prijzig.
The desserts were delicious with the exeption of the watery crème brûlee. Dinks were quite expensive, I almost paid 10 euros for a glass of ice tea and a small bottle of water. I don't want to see the cheque when you go and have dinner with thirsty children... Again I have seen prices like that before at luxury restaurants but beverages are a little overpriced I think.

I don't want to see the cheque when you go and have dinner with thirsty children... Again I have seen prices like that before at luxury restaurants but beverages are a little overpriced I think.
Over het diner heb ik dus wat gemengde gevoelens, ik vond het zeker niet slecht, maar ik blijf een volgende keer liever in het park om te eten of ga naar een van de fijne restaurants in Disney Village (al gaat de kwaliteit van het eten daar ook wel hard achteruit...denk dat het een Disney ding is, verwacht er gewoon maar niet teveel van dan komt het wel goed).
I have mixed feelings about the dinner, It was not bad, but next time I think I prefer having dinner in the parks or Disneyland village (altough the food quality is getting worse there too... guess it's a Disney thing...) Don't have too high expectations and you will be just fine.

Het ontbijt in het Musketeers restaurant was echt zalig, lekkere warme croissants, pains aux chocolat een goddelijke soort brood/cake met noten en volop ander lekkers om de dag goed mee te beginnen.
Breakfast at the Musketeers restaurant was a true delight, warm croissants and pains aux chocolat and a cakelike bread filled with nuts that made my day.

Een erg fijn hotel voor een verblijf bij Disneyland Resort Paris. Hoewel ik het fijner vind om wat dichterbij te zitten (dan kan je lekker wandelen naar de parken) is dit hotel qua verzorging misschien zelfs wel ietsje luxer dan de Disney hotels (ik ga gewoonlijk naar het Newport Bay, Seqouia Lodge of New York) Qua ontbijt zit je in ieder geval al een stuk beter. Het is maar net wat je voorkeur heeft, het Vienna Dream Castle hotel mag dan als thema de middeleeuwen hebben, dit sfeervolle hotel is van alle moderne gemakken voorzien en is zeker een aanrader.
A very comfortable and clean hotel for a stay near Disneyland Resort Paris. I personnaly prefer to be a little closer to the parks (I just love to stroll around lake Disney) but I think this hotel is cleaner and more luxurious than the Disney hotels (I usually stay in the New York, Newport bay or Seqouia Lodge depending on the season). The breakfast is better, no doubt about that. This hotel might have a medieval theme, there is nothing medieval about this comfortable cozy hotel. The Vienna Dream Castle hotel is a great place to stay when visiting the Disneyland parks.
