Twilight inspired nails part 1

Ik heb het eerste deel van Twilight uitgelezen en wil meteen door met deel 2, 3 en 4. Ik heb deel 1 en 2 ook op dvd, maar er gaat toch niets boven je eigen duistere verbeelding, vandaar deze 2 lakken die me heel erg aan de film doen denken, OPI Here today aragon tomorrow staat voor het duistere diepgroene bos en China glaze Wagon trail zijn de ogen van Edward op een hongerige dag, duister en met gouden gloed. Ik heb vampierboeken altijd al fascinerend gevonden, mijn eerste was Bram Stoker's Dracula die ook nog eens op de boekenlijst mocht voor het eindexamen. Ik ben erg benieuwd naar de komende delen van Twilight, wie weet aan welke kleuren die mij doen denken.

I just finished the first book of the Twilight saga and can't wait to read the other books. I also have part 1 and 2 on dvd, but nothing beats your own dark imagination, therefore these two twilight inspired polishes. OPI Here today aragon tomorrow is the dark deepgreen forest and China glaze Wagon trail is how I imagined Edwards eyes must look when he is hungry, dark and golden. I always loved vampire books, my first one was Bram Stoker's dracula, i read it for my high school exams. I will start reading the other books soon, curious what colors they bring up in my mind.

Vintage OPI ~Millionaire pink~

Dit is een van mijn eerste Opi nagellaken, Millionaire pink. Een hele lichte frosted peach/champagnekleurige lak met subtiele shimmers (daarvoor moet je wel echt op de afbeelding klikken en de vergrote weergave bekijken). Ik ben gewoon verloren als er een mooie frosted lak langskomt (ik weet dat vele nagelakista's ervan gruwelen) maar ik vind het het mooiste wat er is ;) Deze "vintage" lak dekte in 2 laagjes alleen kan je merken dat de formules in de loop der jaren flink zijn verbeterd want het drogen duurt zelfs mij veel te lang. Maarrrr hij is gewoon prachtig!

This is one of my first Opi polishes, Millionaire pink. A very delicate peachy/champagne frosted polish with subtle shimmers (you do need to click and see the enlarged view to spot the shimmers). I am such a sucker for frosted polishes (i know it makes most polisha's shiver) but i think nothing beats a pretty frosted polish, there I said it ;) This vintage polish did the job in 2 coats, the downside is the drytime that has been improved so much over the years. I really love this one!

Koh! Baby summer collection 2010 recap

Nog even alle 4 de kleuren uit de Koh zomercollectie op een rijtje (van boven naar onder) Baby Grey, Baby skin, Baby Beige en Baby yellow. Er zaten ook nog een Baby Blue en Baby pink in de collectie, maar ik heb zoveel van die kleuren in mijn stash zitten dat ik die maar even heb overgeslagen. Fijn weekend!

Here's a recap of the 4 colors of the Koh summercollection (from to top to bottom) Baby grey, Baby skin, Baby beige and Baby yellow. This collection also contained a baby blue and baby pink but i have so many baby pinks and blues in my stash that i skipped those. Have a lovely weekend!

Misa Mardi Grass quick swatches

Dit zijn 2 kleuren uit de Misa Mardi Grass collectie, (moest ze hebben na het zien van de kikkerprinses ;) Shake it to the samba (peach) en Jester ate the King cake (felgeel). Shake it to the Samba zat er in 2 snelle laagjes op en is niet zo krijtachtig als een peachy keen van china glaze, deze lakt een stuk lekkerder. Jester ate the King cake is een supervrolijke gele lak, die op de foto iets zachter lijkt dan hij "in het eggie" is. Vandaar de magic marker op de laatste foto, het zit er niet ver naast. Deze lak was wel voor de die hards, 4 laagjes zijn geen overbodige luxe, maar dan heb je wel echt iets unieks. Enjoy!

These are 2 colors from the Misa Mardi Grass collection (had to have some after watching the frog princess ;) Shake it to the Samba (peach) and Jester ate the King cake (bright yellow). Shake it to the Samba was easy to apply in two coats and is not so chalky as china glaze peachy keen and a lot nicer to apply. Jester ate the King cake is a superbright and happy yellow which looks a lot softer on the pictures than in real life, that's why I included the magic marker in the last pic to see how close the color is. This is a die hard polish addict polish, 4 coats are needed, but the result is really stunning and unique! Enjoy!

My sweet birthday girl!

Vandaag is onze lieve Toetie 3 jaar geworden, cliche maar de tijd vliegt, op de eerste foto ligt ze vooraan in de mand en haar broertjes liggen erachter. Nu houdt ze mama Lola uit haar slaap door wild met haar grote broer Joey te spelen en laat zich af en toe door mij verkleden (uhm.....ze weigert te bewegen in kleren dus het blijft bij incidenteel een foto maken haha) Hieperdepiep hoera voor Toetie! Tijd voor slagroomsoesjes....die zal ik maar eens snel gaan uitdelen....Enjoy!

Today is Toetie's 3rd B-day, time goes so fast, at the 1st pic she is asleep and guarding her brothers. Now she likes to wake up mama Lola when playing with big bro Joey and sometimes, for special occassions we dress up (uhm...for pics only haha she refuses to move with anything on while Patsy loves dresses) hip hip hurray for Toetie! Time for puff cakes with whipped cream to celebrate the dachsies looooove em.... Enjoy!

Essie Splash of Grenadine VS OPI Shorts story

Toen ik splash of grenadine bestelde wist ik eigenlijk al dat het een vrij unieke kleur is, ik heb even gezocht en shorts story (pink en middelvinger) komt er het meest bij in de buurt hoewel het toch weer een heel ander type roze is (beetje verwarrend nietwaar haha ben een beetje wazig vandaag) Dus vandaar even een vergelijking. En daarna nog wat swatches van Shorts story een erg mooie roze tint van Opi. Het grote verschil was trouwens niet alleen de kleur, Shorts story was na een laag al zo goed als dekkend en grenadine had er 3 nodig. Enjoy!

When i ordered splash of grenadine i knew i had nothing like it in my stash, i compared some but shorts story (pink and middlefinger) is the closest match altough it is a totally different shade of pink (does that make sense haha i am a little foggy today) So here's a comparision and after that some more swatches of shorts story. The big difference is not only the color, short story was almost opaque after one coat, grenadine needed 3. Enjoy!

Sephora by OPI layering with Orly Snowcone

Zoals beloofd de Sephora by Opi's over een andere lak. Dit is Orly snowcone als basis (1 laagje) en daarover 1 laagje Lagoon-a -beach (pink en middelvinger) en Underwater Fantasy (ring en wijsvinger)
klik op de afbeeldingen voor een vergroting, beide lakken hadden maar 1 laagje nodig dus dit is niet alleen heeeel erg mooi maar ook supersnel. Mijn zonnecreme is nu wel ingetrokken dus ga ik ga van het zonnetje genieten en mijn boek verder lezen (heb twilight van mijn zusje geleend ik hou niet van hypes dus heb ook de film niet gezien maar het boek is zooooo goed, kan niet stoppen met lezen....Enjoy!

As promised the Sephora by Opi polishes layered over Orly snowcone (only 1 coat) On my pinkie and middlefinger i have one coat of lagoon-a-beach and on my pointer and ringfinger i have one coat of underwater fantasy. Both polishes needed only one coat so this is quick and stunning ;) I have applied my tanning lotion half an hour ago so i am ready to soak up the sun now and continue reading (i got twilight from my little sister i did not see the movie because i don't like hypes, but this book is sooooo good i can't stop reading :)  Enjoy!

Sephora by OPI Lagoon-a-beach

Nog een prachtige lak uit de zomercollectie van vorig jaar, in de VS heeft Sally Hansen het goed bekeken en deze lijn goed bekeken want die heeft exact dezelfde kleuren uitgebracht voor deze zomer (helaas niet in NL verkrijgbaar) Dit zijn 4 laagjes, het is even wat moeite maar dit is wel een plaatje hoor, deze kleur is ook uitermate geschikt over andere kleuren (dat laat ik morgen zien) Klik op de fotos voor een vergrote weergave, de laatste is expres wazig zodat je alle glimmer en glitter goed kan zien! Another stunner from last years summer collection, better late than never and Sally Hansen copied this entire collection for her summer collection so in a way you don't have to miss out...This is 4 coats, this one is especially nice for layering (pics coming up tomorrow;) but solo it takes a little more time but it is quite pretty i must admit. click on the images for enlarged view, the last one is a blurry one to see how much it really sparkles. Sephora by Opi Underwater Fantasy

Ok deze lak is zo waanzinnig gaaf dat ik er eigenlijk niet teveel over moet zeggen, dit zijn 3 laagjes en in het zonlicht schittert deze lak je tegemoet. Hij is ook heeeel erg mooi over een andere lak maar die laat ik je over een paar dagen pas zien ;) Underwater Fantasy is een lak uit de zomercollectie van vorig jaar, ook voor Sephora ontwikkelt OPI waanzinnig mooie collecties....zucht...nu moeten ze ze alleen nog in Europa uitbrengen....Enjoy!

Okay this polish is sooo stunning that the pictures should do the talking, these are 3 coats and it totally blings you away. It is also very cool for layering, but i will show you that later this week ;) Underwater Fantasy belings to last years summer collection, OPI develops amazing collections for Sephora, now they only have to start selling them in Europe.....sigh......Enjoy!

Essie Resort and North Fork comparision

Vorig jaar had Essie ook al een blauwe en groene lak in de toenmalige North Folk collectie zitten, net als nu in de resort collectie, je zou denken dat de inspiratie bij Essie op was want zijn het dubbelgangers? Het antwoord....totaal niet. Essie Greenport is een stuk donkerder en is een sobere en stoffige versie (in positieve zin) van Turqouise&Caicos die veel helderder groen van kleur is. Qua textuur zijn ze gelijk, beiden hadden 3 laagjes nodig en lakten even vlot. Hetzelfde geld eigenlijk voor Shelter island en Lapis of Luxury, Lapis is een stuk sprekender en neigt ook een beetje naar de paarse kant van blauw, heel helder en sprekend terwijl Shelter Island wat ingetogener is en een beetje naar grijs neigt, maar niet minder mooi is. Ook de blauwe lakken zijn 3 laagjes en waren van dezelfde kwaliteit. De resort kleuren (Lapis en turqouise) zitten op de ring en wijsvinger bij beide vergelijkingen, dus lijken ze op elkaar? Oordeel zelf maar ;) (ps er was geen zonlicht meer dus alle foto's zijn in bewolkt en regenachtig daglicht genomen)

Last year Essie also had a blue and green polish in the North Folk collection just like we have a blue and green in this year's Resort collection. Makes you wonder if they were out of inspiration at Essie's and created dupes for last years polishes but that is not the case. Essie greenport is a darker more modest and dustier (in a good way) than Turqouise&Caicos which is more vibrant and radiant. they both needed 3 coats and the formula is thesame. Thesame thing counts for Shelter island and Lapis of Luxury, Lapis is a far more vivid blue than Shelter which is a hint more grey and dusty compared to Lapis i think they are both really stunning blue polishes. The blue ones also needed 3 coats and have thesame formula. the resort colors (Lapis and Turqouise)are on my ring and index at both comparisions. And are they twins? Just take a look at the pics ;) (ps there was no sunlight so these are taken in cloudy rainy daylight)

Koh summer 2010 baby beige & Koh Matt!

Baby beige is een zandkleurige lak met subtiele shimmer, heel chic en bescheiden en geeft net dat beetje extra aan je sunkissed nude look. Met een laagje Koh Matt ga je van ingetogen naar opvallend, heel gaaf nude nagels met een matte finish! Dit zijn 2 laagjes de lak glijdt over je nagels en is snel droog dit is pas fijn lakken. Enjoy!

Baby beige is a sand colored nude polish with subtle shimmer, very chic and modest and gives a little extra to a sunkissed nude look. With a coat of Koh Matt! the look goes from sublte to stunning. This is 2 coats and it goes on the nails effortless and easy and dries quick. Enjoy!

Orly Sweet spring 2010

Dit zijn de lakken uit de Orly sweet collectie die mij het meest aanspreken, Orly snowcone, pixy stix en cotton candy (de laatste vooral omdat ik gek ben op suikerspinnen) De lak is superdekkend maar kan een beetje lastig zijn met aanbrengen omdat dit soort pastellakken als snel wat stroperiger zijn dan je gewend bent, maar vooral snowcone was een topper, op de foto's zie je 1 laagje, ja echt...1 laagje...foto's zijn genomen in daglicht. Oja let niet op mn pink....nogal pijnlijk ongelukje....

These are the polishes from the Orly sweet collection that i like most, Orly snowcone, pixy stix and cotton candy (the last one just because i am totally crazy about cotton candy) the polishes are really opaque but can be a little goopy like most pastel polishes which tend to be little more on the thick side than regular polishes, but snowcone...dude...1 coat....yes really 1 coat....pics are taken in daylight. Sorry about the pinkie, it was a painful accident..auch :(
