Rituals nailcare & Amber Stone polish

Vandaag wil ik jullie kennis laten maken met de nagelverzorging van het fijne merk Rituals. Ik heb de basecoat, een hele mooie nagellak en de topcoat. Alle 3 de producten bevatten robijn om je nagels te versterken, volgens de oude Chinese wijsheid geeft Robijn kracht en energie, de kleuren van de lakken zijn gebaseerd op edelstenen. De basecoat egaliseert het nageloppervlak en voorkomt gele verkleuringen op de nagels. Amber Stone is een bijzondere mix tussen taupe en donkergrijs, een kleur die het volgens mij op alle huidtintjes erg mooi doet, van roomwit tot diep ebbenhout. De nagellak brengt heel erg fijn aan, de formule is precies goed en dekt in 2 laagjes. De topcoat geeft een hoogglans finish en zorgt voor een langere houdbaarheid van je manicure.

Bij Rituals draait het om je goed te voelen over jezelf en goed te zorgen voor je zelf, je huis en je naasten. Today I would like to introduce you to the nailcare products of Rituals. I got the basecoat, a really nice polish and the topcoat. All 3 products are enriched with ruby to strenghten the nails, according to ancient chinese wisdom ruby gives strength and energy, the color of the polishes are inspired by gemstones. The basecoat evens out the surface of the nail and prevents staining. Amber Stone is a mix between taupe and dark grey, I think this color will look stunning on all skin tones, from creamy white to glowing ebony. This polish applies really really nice, the formula is just right and is opaque and even in 2 coats. The topcoat gives a high gloss finish and will protect your manicure.

Koh Baby Blue

Baby blue is een prachtige lichtblauwe cremelak, veel lichter dan de meeste lichtblauwe lakken die ik heb en deze lakt weer voortreffelijk. Dit zijn 2 laagjes. Baby blue is echt een droom van een blauw.

Baby blue is an extraordinary baby blue creme polish, much lighter than most light blues i own and this one applies like a dream, this is really a beautiful dreamy blue.

  

Koh Vintage orange

Vintage orange is eigenlijk geen oranje, meer een soort toffee/caramelkleur, erg jammie om naar te kijken en erg mooi op je nagels. Ik ben de laatste tijd erg gek op dit soort kleurtjes en deze is veel warmer dan de meeste nudes, dus een unieke tint in zijn soort. Ook dit zijn weer 2 moeiteloze laagjes lak.

Vintage Orange is not really an orange, more taffee/fudgecolored and very yummy to look at and lovely on the nails. I am really into these shades lately and this one is much warmer than all the nude shades i know, so this is pretty unique. This is also 2 easy and effortless coats.

   

Koh Choco brown

Goed ik heb dus eigenlijk helemaal niets met bruine lak, vind het soms ronduit lelijk maar toch...toen ik voor het rek met Koh lakken stond riep deze kleur mij gewoon...koop mij koop mij...dus ging hij mee naar huis en ik ben er zo blij mee! Het is een warmbruine tint met koperen en gouden shimmer zooooo mooi op een goudgebruind huidje, deze lak hadden ze net zo goed Choco glow kunnen noemen want het is spectaculair wat zonlicht met deze kleur doet. Ook deze bracht snel en makkelijk aan. Ik heb ze gekocht bij de Koh stand in de bijenkorf Amsterdam, pas wel op als je erheen gaat, want je gaat echt niet met lege handen naar huis. Okay I have to confess I never liked brown polishes, sometimes I think they are just really ugly, but when I was standing in front of the huge Koh display this color was calling me....buy me buy me...so I took it home with me and I am so thrilled about this! It's a warm brown shade with copper and golden shimmer soooo stunning on a golden tan, they should have called this one Choco glow because it really glows in the sunlight. This one also applied quick and easy. I purchased these in the Bijenkorf Amsterdam at the Koh shop, be careful tough, you will not leave the Koh shop empty handed. Not planning to visit Amsterdam? Hoewel er in de zomercollectie van Essie nog een paar andere hele mooie kleurtjes zitten (Haute as hello, knockout pout) moest ik het wegens tegenvallende cashflowresultaten even bij een lakje laten (sniksnik). dus heb ik voor de meest unieke gekozen, Demure Vixen stelt niet teleur (klik vooral op de afbeeldingen voor vergroot kijkgenot) na het oranje geweld eerder deze week is deze tint een verademing, neutraal en bescheiden maar zeker niet saai! Demure vixen is een mauve met lilapaarse shimmer (vooral op de laatste donkere foto zie je die goed in het flesje) die waanzinnig lekker lakt, ik heb 3 laagjes gedaan maar met 2 had ik ook al een heel mooi resultaat. Zoals je op de foto ziet waren mijn nagelriemen erg opstandig (au au au) en na het vele swatchen was het nog veeeel erger (nagellakremover voelt dan niet zo fijn.....) maar ik heb morgen de swatches van de resort collectie voor jullie en nog genoeg andere leuke dingen dus het was het waard. Tot morgen!

Altough there were a few really pretty polishes in the essie summer collection(Haute as hello...knockout pout...boohoo), due to dissapointing cash flow issues i was allowed to only purchase one polish. so i chose the most unique shade and Demure Vixen dit not dissapoint (please click on the images for enlarged viewing pleasure) after all the screaming oranges this is pure bliss, neutral and modest but dull? Hell no! Demure Vixen is a mauve with lilac/purple shimmer (notice the bottle in the last pic) that applies like a dream. As you can see on the pics my poor cuticles are sooo sore and after doing all those swatches it became worse but so worth it because tomorrow i have the Essie resort collection to show you and a lot of other stuff coming up. See you tomorrow!

WK Oranges part 1 Opi flit a bit, CG dreamsicle and Koh Dutch!

  












Omdat ik het WK niet helemaal wil (en kan...zucht...) negeren doen we een rondje oranje lakken, ook al is het geen WK van een oranje lak moet je wel vrolijk worden :) De eerste is Opi flit a bit uit de summer flutter collectie, feloranje creme, deze oranje laat de leeuw zeker niet in zijn hempie staan. De lak dekt in 2 soepele laagjes. Dus ook handig als je haast hebt en nog even de oranje puntjes op de i wil zetten;)
Als dit niet spectaculair genoeg is voegen we een laagje China glaze dreamsicle toe aan de 2 laagjes flit a bit en ohlala, met zulke nagels wordt je zeker het stadion uitgezet want niemand kijkt nog naar de bal! Dreamsicle is een oranje jelly met oogverblindende glitters in alle kleuren, het kan natuurlijk gebeuren dat je de hele wedstrijd naar je nagels kijkt.....Last but not least Koh Dutch! Dit is echt een oranje statement op je nagels, fel en vurig, menig voetbalvrouw zal naast je verbleken (sorry Syl en Yo).

Because I don't want to (and can't....sigh...) ignore the Fifa world cup let's do a round of oranges shall we? even tough there is no world cup, oranges always make me happy :) The first one is Opi flit a bit from the summer flutter collection, this bright orange does not leave the lion standing in his tanktop (huh that sounds weird oh well Dutch humour...) This one has great coverage in 2 smooth coats so great when you are in a rush and need to finish with an (orange) cherry on top of your fab soccer look. When this is not fab enough to your taste let's add one coat of China glaze dreamsicle and you will be kicked out of the stadium because all will look at your nails instead of the ball ;) Dreamsicle is an orange jelly with shiny glitters in all colors, in case of a boring match, just stare at your nails, satisfaction guaranteed. And last but certainly nog least Koh Dutch! This creates orange statement nails in 2 smooth coats and with these this feisty fiery orange all those glamorous Wags will look like plain average Janes (sorry Syl and Yo) Check these beauties out, I only used polish for these swatches no top or basecoat (bad girl) Enjoy!

Books: Isabel Allende Island beneath the Sea / Het eiland onder de zee

Dit is totaal niet waar ik gewoonlijk over schrijf, maar ik wou dit gewoon met jullie delen. Eiland onder de Zee van Isabel Allende verteld het meeslepende levensverhaal van Zarité die als jong meisje als slavin op een suikerplantage moet werken. Het verhaal is zo goed geschreven dat het net is alsof je langs de zijlijn de gebeurtenissen gadeslaat en je proeft de sfeer van het leven in Saint-Domingue (Haïti) hoe bitter de smaak soms ook is. De eerste hoofdstukken kunnen een beetje verwarrend zijn omdat je het verhaal steeds vanuit een ander persoon beleeft, wat uitendelijk wel een heel gevarieerd beeld van de slavernij geeft, dus laat je daardoor niet ontmoedigen. Het leven van Zarité is alles behalve eenvoudig en ondanks dat blijft deze heldin overeind. Het gruwelen van de slavernij zijn vrij heftig en confronterend maar ik denk dat het goed is dat mensen zich bewust zijn van de gebeurtenissen uit die tijd. Ik wil er eigenlijk niet teveel over vertellen want je moet het eigenlijk zelf ervaren. Een prachtig en inspirerend boek dat ik niet weg kon leggen, ik had het in 2 dagen uit 448 pagina's) geen enkele review kan dit boek eer aandoen. Schitterend!

Completely polish unrelated, but I really wanted to share this with you all. Island beneath the Sea by Isabel Allende tells the story of Zarité, who was born in slavery and has to work on a sugarcane plantation. The story is written so amazingly good that you get the feeling you are watching the journey of Zarité from a small distance and you can really taste the atmosphere of life in Saint-Domingue (Haïti) how bitter the taste may get. The forst chapters may be tricky because they are viewed from different caracters but in the end that gives a very wide perspective of the slavery so don't let that discourage you :) Zarité's life is everything but simple and still this strong woman keeps her head up high. The horror of the slavery is awfully confronting but awareness about this issue is a good thing. I don't want to tell you too much, just read it for yourself, this is a wonderfull inspiring book about love, slavery, freedom and loyalty. I could not get enough of it and finished it in 2 days (464 pages) Fascinating!

 

Opi shrek collectie release in Nederland & Opi Switzerland release news

Gisteren was het dan eindelijk zover, de Shrek collecties is bij de erkende opi verkooppunten verkrijgbaar.
Hieronder swatches van Ogre the top blue solo en met princesses rule! als topcoat en Who the shrek are you solo en met Significant other color als topcoat. Ik ga zeker What’s With the Cattitude? en Rumple’s Wiggin nog aan mijn collectie toevoegen :)
Het is nog lang niet zover en ik verheug me nog niet op de herfst, maar een lichtpuntje is dat de Opi Swiss collectie zal eind Augustus bij de verkooppunten vekrijgbaar zijn. dus wel iets bijzonders om naar uit te kijken!

Yesterday was the release date of the Shrek collection. The polishes are available at authorized dealers. Here I have swatches of Ogre the top blue solo and with princesses rule on top and Who the Shrek are you solo and with significant other color. I think I will add What’s With the Cattitude?, Rumple’s Wiggin to my collection :)
It is a little early to think about fall and winter but Opi's swiss fall collection is really something to look forward too, the Swiss collection will be available in late August.

Paul & Joe Sahara collection limited edition polishes

Sinds 2002 heeft fashionlabel Paul&Joe ook een cosmeticalijn en brengen ze regelmatig limited editions uit, deze zomer was het thema van de collectie Sahara, ik heb 2 van de 3 lakken besteld via asos.com uit nieuwsgierigheid. Oasis is een blauwe shimmerlak met zilveren glitters en Mirage is een mokka met gouden en zilveren glitters, heel apart en heel erg mooi op een (met liefde en zorg) zongebruind huidje. hieronder swatches van deze 2 mooie lakken van dit leuke merk. De lak lakt fatsoenlijk en droogt redelijk snel. De retro verpakking is ook echt helemaal te leuk, fijne aanwinsten voor mijn collectie! Enjoy!

In 2002 fashionlabel Paul&Joe added cosmetics to their portfolio and create must have limited editions ever since. This summer the theme of the summer collection is the Sahara desert, I purchased 2 out of 3 limited edition polishes from asos.com out of curiousity. Oasis is a light blue shimmer with silver glitter and Mirage is a mocha with golden and silver glitter, really unexpected prettyness and looks amazing on (carefully and lovingly) tanned skin. I have swatches of these two nice polishes with decent formula, the polish dries reasonably fast. the retro bottles make them really stand out, so these are great additions to my collection :) Enjoy!

Ik dacht laat ik deze 2 maar even in een bericht proppen, hoewel de enige overeenkomst van deze lakken is dat ze groen zijn :) Jade is op zich een hele mooie kleur en lakt heerlijk, je bent klaar met 2 laagjes.....maar hij doet me niet zoveel....Misschien moet ik eraan wennen maar zo na een paar dagen heb ik nog steeds zoiets van mwoh...dus we gaan verder met Zoya Ivanka, en daarvan gaat mijn chemicalienliefhebbende hartje dus wel sneller van kloppen, groen met gouden glimmers YEAH BABY! ik heb nu na 3 dagen al best wat tipwear maar dat lossen we wel op met een vers laagje lak en topcoat, deze kleur blijft voorlopig lekker zitten :) Ivanka had wel 3 laagjes nodig, maar dat doe ik eigenlijk standaard dus prima lakje met spectaculair effect. Enjoy!

Oh well let's stuff two polishes in one post today, the only thing these two polishes share is their green color, the comparision ends there...Jade is quite pretty and applies great in 2 coats but I am just not feeling it...maybe this color has to grow on me but after a few days I was still thinking, mwoh......so let's move on to zoya Ivanka, and that one makes my chemical lovin heart beat a lot faster, green and golden sparklyness (is that even a word???) YEAH BABY! I am wearing it for 3 days now and have some tipwear but I will solve that with one additional coat of polish and a fresh layer of topcoat, this one will stay on my nails for a few more days. This was my usual 3 coats, this polish rocks! Enjoy!

My Summer Accessorize wishlist part1 Triwa watches

Vandaag iets bijzoner leuks, ik ben GEK op horloges (Als ik ooit de loterij win komt de rosegouden Cartier Tank Americaine er echt) en Triwa is een wel heel erg leuk horlogemerk. Triwa is opgericht in Stockholm in 2006 en sindsdien maakt dit waanzinnig leuke merk kleurrijke horloges waarmee je elke outfit (en manicure ;) compleet maakt.
Ik ben echt he-le-maal verliefd op de nieuwe zomercollectie Miami deco 2010, het zijn helemaal mijn kleurtjes en zou ze het liefst allemaal aanschaffen (helaas is mijn banksaldo het daar NIET mee eens zucht....spelbreker...) De chrono's zijn mijn favoriet, ik hou wel van groot en stoer helemaal als ze zijn uitgevoerd in snoepkleurtjes met namen als, Coral Flamingo, Turqoise Flamingo en Pretty Pink...het wordt nog moeilijk kiezen...de chrono's kosten 139 euro. Today a special treat! I love love love watches (if I ever win the lotery the pinkgold Cartier Tank americane is going to be MINE) and Triwa is a brand which creates really awesome watches. Triwa is founded in Stockholm in 2006 and they make really cool and colorfull watches that will be the flashy finishing touch to every outfit (and manicure ;)
I am head over heels (the heel part will be another post about shoes heehee) with their new Summer 2010 collection: Miami deco and would love to have them all.. (unfortunately my bank account is not that willing to go along in my shopping disorder...) my Orly viva picks & swatches

De Orly Viva collectie bestaat uit 4 zinderende zomerse kleuren, ik heb 3 van de 3 kleuren maar twijfel nu toch over Fiesta, een hot pink met shimmer (ik sta op hot pink dieet...mag ze niet meer kopen van mezelf maar kom nu toch in de verleiding....) Bailamos is een turquoise shimmer, La Playa is een diep donkerblauw die neigt naar paars (een kleur die ik anders noooooit zou kopen maar ik was toch wel nieuwsgierig en hij is echt heel mooi, de foto doet m geen recht) Ole tenslotte is een felrood/oranje creme, ook zeer geschikt voor het WK ;) (niet dat dat mij ook maar enigzins boeit maar ok, ik geef echt he-le-maal niets om voetbal....). hieronder de swatches, La Playa en Bailamos zijn 2 laagjes en Ole3, alle 3 waren de vertrouwede fijne Orly formule. The Orly viva collection exsists of 4 sultry summery shades, I got 3 of them, but I am thinking of buying Fiesta, a hot pink shimmer (and guess who is on a hot pink diet now....I am not allowed to buy more pinks, but this one is soooo tempting...) Bailamos is a turqouise shimmer, La Playa is a deep dark blue which leans to purple ( this color is way out of my comfort zone but I was so curious I had to have it...the pics don't do this color justice) Finally Ole, a bright red/orange, a very suitable shade for the world soccer championship (the Netherlands is turning orange right now....)
